Something to be Passsionate About!

What is that gets your stirred up? What is it that sets you on fire? What is it that just drives you nuts? It is funny to think about what stirs me up in life and to see what stirs others up. Some it may be bad drivers (but when they do the same thing it is still the other drivers fault). Some it may be sports or politics. In America we are not short on sports nuts. But what about something that has a deeper meaning.

I think we need to ask ourselves, "what is it that Jesus was passionate about?"

I know a guy that met the founder Starbucks Howard Schultz, and he asked him the 64,000 dollar question. He asked, "What is it that drives you? What is it that keeps you awake at night?" His answer, "Thinking about all the places that there is not a Starbucks."

Speaking about this with a fellow coffee addict minister at the coffee shop he told me about a conversation between D.L. Moody and another gentlemen. Moody asked the man to look into the park and tell him what he saw. The man said that he just saw the people. Moody responded that what he saw was the mulitude that did not know Christ and were headed to hell.
We must once again look at the scriptures and find out what it is that burns in the heart of God.
  • He came to seek and save the lost.
  • He came to heal the brokenhearted.
  • He came to set the oppressed free.
  • He came to confront the religous.
  • He came to heal the sick.
  • He came to love the unlovable.
  • He came to establish His Father's Kingdom here on earth.

Lets let what makes Him discontent make us discontent, and above all lets let it put a fire in us that nothing can quench. Lets let it be a fire shut up in our bones. One thing I didn't list that could be one of the most important. He came and gave His life. What are we willing to burn on the inside for, what are we willing to give our lives for?
